Section 4
District Judge

(1) There shall be one District Judge in each District Court.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), the Chief Justice may, on the recommendation of the Council of Justice, appoint additional District Judges in the required number in cases where the workload in any District Court is excessive.
(3) The Judicial Council shall determine the number of judges to be in each district court according to the workload, subject to the total number of posts established in accordance with sub-section (7), and the number of judges so determined may be increased or decreased based on the workload.
(4) If there is more than one district judge in a district court, the most senior district judge will act as the head.
(5) The Chief Justice may appoint a District Judge of a District Court to act as a Judge of another District Court for a certain period.
(6) According to sub-section (5), the district judge shall work in the respective district court throughout the period specified.
(7) The Government of Nepal shall maintain the total number of judges of the District Court according to the workload of the cases on the recommendation of the Judicial Council.
